All Salary Structures in Nigeria: Full List

There are many salary structures in Nigeria used by different sectors. This Salary structure scale was established in 1993 by the National Salaries Income and Wages Commission (NSIWC). It has been in use from 1960 till the present day, though it’s a usual review from time to time. Most public or civil servants are paid using these Nigerian salary structures.

Current Salary Structures in Nigeria

Below are all the salary structures in Nigeria used in paying Federal Government employment salaries and wages.

1. CONUASS

The abbreviation CONUASS simply means Consolidated University Academic Structure. CONUASS is used for the payment of salaries and wages of all academic staff of all federal universities in Nigeria. Hence, this Nigerian salary structure is used for the payment of salaries of all members of ASUU in Nigeria. It was commenced in 2010 and is still in use till then.

2. CONTISS

CONTISS is an acronym for Consolidated Tertiary Institutions Salary Structure. This salary structure is divided into two CONTISS I and CONTISS II. And both are used to pay non-academic staff members of federal universities. Just that CONTISS I was used in 2007 until it was replaced with CONTISS II which was adopted in 2009. Most non-teaching staff in government tertiary universities especially NASU are paid with this scale.

3. CONTOPSAL

This is one of the popular salary structures in Nigeria. CONTOPSAL in full means Consolidated Top Federal Public Office Holders Salary Structure. It’s the salary scale used in the payment of salaries and wages of top workers of both federal and state governments in all units and sectors. Furthermore, CONTOPSAL was enforced in 2007 and it’s still the salary structure used in paying these top government officials in different sectors to date.

4. CONMESS

The acronym CONMESS which means Consolidated Medical Salary Structure is a salary structure in Nigeria used to pay government workers, especially the Dental and Medical staff. Their salaries and wages are prepared using this Nigerian salary structure. Therefore, If you are a medical staff member in any government-owned institution, CONMESS is the salary structure that will be used in working out your salary irrespective of the level.

5. CONHESS

This salary structure is also related to CONMESS as it is used in the same health sector. Although CONHESS whose full meaning is Consolidated Health Salary Structure is for all other health workers excluding the medical doctors. These health workers include Nurses, Medical Lab Workers, Pharmacists, Community Health Workers, and other members. And their salary and wages are calculated using this salary structure.

6. CONJUSS

CONJUSS which simply means Consolidated Judicial Salary Structure is a salary structure in Nigeria used to pay Judicial employees. This includes all judicial workers under the employment of the federal government including judges, court clerks, prosecutors, and other legal members.

7. CONRAISS

CONRAISS is also one of the salary structures in Nigeria used in paying federal government workers. The acronym CONRAISS simply means Consolidated Research and Allied Institution Salary Structure. This Nigerian salary structure is used for all federal government staff employed in all research and allied institutions.
