Femi Anikulapo Kuti, Nigerian Musician and eldest son of Afrobeat pioneer, Fela kuti has taken to twitter to disassociate himself from any political party in Nigeria.
Femi made this known on his official Twitter handle saying he was invited for the Ojota protest in response to the removal of fuel subsidy by former Nigeria President, Goodluck Jonathan which took place in 2012 but withdrew on finding out that the protest was politically motivated.
“I was invited for what I and many believed was a genuine cause regarding the cost of fuel. As soon as I found out it was politically motivated I pulled out”.
According to him, his decision to withdraw from joining the protest came with a lot of backlash.

“For the record I have NEVER and will NEVER affiliate with any political party that I don’t feel has the genuine interest of the people of Nigeria at heart”.
He also mentioned that he turned down the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osibajo’s request for him to join the All Progressive Congress (APC).
