Information reaching 9ja news says that President Muhammadu Buhari has commiserated with the people of Kaduna state over the death of the Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Shehu Idris..
In the condolence message, the President says “With the passing of Alhaji Shehu Idris, Nigeria has lost one of its longest reigning traditional monarchs whose contributions to the promotion of unity and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians cannot be forgotten for years to come.”
According to President Buhari, the late Emir was dedicated to serving his people.
“The Emir of Zazzau who ascended to the throne in 1975, had used his long reign to serve his people with dedication and identified with their aspirations at all times.”
The President prayed to Allah to forgive the late Emir and grant his family and subjects the fortitude to bear the loss.
A delegation of senior government officials was sent to the burial of the Emir of Zazzau. The team was led by the Chief of Staff to the President, Professor Ibrahim Gambari. Other persons on the delegation were the Minister for Budget and National planning, Zainab Ahmed, Minister of Environment, Dr Mohammad Abubakar, Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika and the Spokesman to the President, Garba Shehu.
The team were received by a Kaduna state delegation led by the Governor of Kaduna, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai.
The Chief of Staff who conveyed the condolences of the President said the late Emir had paid his dues to the nation.
Responding, the Kaduna state Governor said the people had lost a caring father. He also thanked the President for the delegation he sent to the burial of the late Emir.
The Emir of Zazzau (Zaria), Kaduna state, Alhaji Shehu Idris died on sunday at the age of 84. The late emir ascended the throne in 1975 as the 18th emir of Zazzau.
