The Nigerian Music superstar and Grammy award nominee, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu popularly known with the stage name ‘Burna Boy’ has wasted no time in blocking a fan and history keeper from being his follower after reminding him of his old tweet.
Remember, in 2019 Burna Boy wrote and tweet on his official Twitter handle that having high digital streaming as a musician doesn’t in any way mean the artiste is good and talented. The reason for saying this back then is only known to him. Who knows?
Burna Boy is a pure talent in the music industry, too. Even, in 2019, he was crowned as the Best International Act at the BET Awards. He went on to win 12 more Awards in the same year with Headies Award, Soundcity MVP Awards, MTV Europe Music Awards, etc. were all-inclusive.
So, the Yawa crooner and Grammy award nominee took to his official social media page yesterday to boast and create awareness of his current achievements. Hard work pays, though. Albeit, Burna Boy’s latest works achieve a commendable feat and as such he decided to show that off.

Essence, the Afro-fusion and reggae man took to his Twitter handle and announced to the world that his latest works have over 100 million streams across various outlets and that his recent song that was recorded with Ed Sheeran is also doing fine in the United Kingdom. It was such great news and achievements to be sincere.
However, it took no time for a fan and an active Twitter user with handle name @Enitodun to remind him of a tweet he made in 2019 on the same platform. The tweet which contains Burna Boy’s wordings as too high and huge digital streaming does not necessarily mean or indicate that an artist is good and talented.
The old tweet read thus “This streaming … be making people feel like they are actually talented. If joke things like “Baby Shark” and “Gangnam Style” can do more number than everyone, don’t think you are talented or respected because of your streaming numbers.
The Nigerian Entertainment Award winner stressed that time will tell who is real, serious and talented. In his wordings, “Everyone, with real working brains knows what a joke is and what is real. Anyway, plenty talk no dey full basket. Let time reveal all,” the Warner Music Group artist identified post at the time read.
Thus, record never dry and history will always be history. Burna Boy was reminded of his own old saying when he falls victim to the same thing he bitterly condemned some months ago. But it was quite unfortunate that all he could do is to block the fan.
Indeed what goes around will surely come around. Someone was making waves and earning all the streams last year but all he could say was high streaming doesn’t guarantee pure talent. And now his time has come and the euphoria had made him contradict his own belief.
