Gov. AbdulRazaq Of Kwara Meets Buhari, Discusses Issues In The State

It could be recalled that Mr Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, an All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in 2019, won the Kwara State governorship election.

Abdulrazaq who polled 331,546 votes in the election, was declared winner, beaten his major opponent from the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr Abdulrazaq Atunwa, who polled 114,754 votes to emerge as the runner-up in the election.

9jatoday learned that President Muhammadu Buhari has received the presence of Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, at Aso Villa a day ago.

In a report made available through Gov. Abdulrazaq’s Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, on Monday, it was revealed that the Governor has met the president to discuss some developmental challenges that he had inherited in his state and the steps he had taken to gradually reposition it.

While giving a report on the governor’s visit to Aso Rock Villa, Rafiu said the one-on-one visit was to keep president Buhari informed of situations the governor met on the ground, especially as regards infrastructural deficits in the areas of water, roads, education, health, and agriculture.

He said;

“The governor also told Mr President how he had been tackling challenges such as gradually restoring water in the state capital and other parts of the state,”

“The governor informed Buhari about the payment of various counterpart funds in the health sector, and how he had returned UNICEF to the state after many years.

“He also told Buhari about the blacklisting of Kwara State by UBEC but that the payment of the N450m debt by his administration had restored the relationship, among many other steps he had taken.”

He added, “Buhari promised to look into his requests for the development of Kwara and Nigeria as a whole.”

Meanwhile, 9jatoday has reported that Senator Ahmad Sani Yerima, a former governor of Zamfara State, has also joined the 2023 presidential race.

According to a report by Daily Trust, Yerima, who is a member of the ruling All Progressives Party (APC) disclosed his intention for the presidential race yesterday in Bauchi while speaking with newsmen shortly after he paid a condolence visit to a famous Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi over the death of his wife.

“And by the grace of Allah, I will contest for the seat in 2023.” He said with confident of emerging victorious in getting the party ticket.
