With plans to break new ground this year, Heineken announced its activities for 2020, giving sponsor to the James Bond No Time to Die movie.
The announcement was made at a news conference held on Tuesday, February 18, at Heineken House.
The brand also revealed some of its exciting plans for the year, including the new James Bond film No Time To Die in April.
No Time to Die is an upcoming spy movie and the 25th film in the James Bond series, produced by EON. It features Daniel Craig on his fifth and final ride as a fictional agent for the M16 James Bond and directed by Cary Joji Fukunga.
Other scheduled activities include Euro 2020, the UEFA Champions League, Formula 1 and the fashion season, which should mark the weight of brands behind platforms like Lagos Fashion Week and Design Fashion Africa.
Sarah Agha, portfolio manager at International Premium Brands, Nigerian Breweries, Ltd, speaking at the event, shared what to expect in the next 10 months.
“Every year, Heineken sets the standard for exclusive and unforgettable campaigns for consumers. This year, we have no plans to rest on our laurels. Last year, we brought the legend, Carles Puyol, as part of our must-see campaign and delighted fans with a three-day tour of the Champions League. Our efforts in various sectors also saw us sponsoring the Design Fashion Africa platform, as well as Lagos Fashion Week.
In 2019, the prestigious Lagos Open tournament was sponsored. However, all of these are just the tip of the iceberg. This year, we are expanding our presence in the brand on even more platforms. Starting with the usual sponsorship of the biggest sports tournament in the world, the UEFA Champions League.
The sequel will be the premiere of the James Bond film “No time to die”, and for the first time Heineken has developed its successful association with UEFA by signing an additional sponsorship contract to become the Official Beer Partner of UEFA EURO 2020 With the Nigeria fashion calendar, which starts in April this year, Lagos Fashion Week, as well as our sponsorship of Design Fashion Africa, is also scheduled to make a huge comeback to delight fashion enthusiasts.
This year, for the first time in history, we also aim to mark our sponsorship of Formula 1 in Nigeria, with Formula 1 Sundays taking place here at Heineken House. Fans of the iconic motorsport sport will have a chance to experience the magic of the Grand Prix. It’s an wonderful time for us and our consumers and we can’t wait to get started, “she said.
