Reports reaching 9jatoday at this time affirms that the Imo State Deputy Speaker has turned down his position.

Okey Onyekanma’s resignation was made known himself while reading his letter of resignation at Plenary earlier today.

The deputy speaker also resigned as the Chairman, House Committee on Rules and Business.

This was coming a few days after Hope Uzodinma was declared the winner of Imo State governorship election by the Supreme Court last week.

Meanwhile, 9jatoday had reported that Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has issued a certificate of return to Hope Uzodinma as duly elected Imo State Governor.

The development was coming not long after the wife of Emeka Ihedioha, ex-governor of Imo State put some smile on her husbands face by noting in a text online that she is right behind him, INEC in a bid to affirms victory to the new governor, Uzodinma, has issued him a new certificate of return to the office as state governor elected.

In the emotional message share by Ebere Ihedioha on Wednesday on her Facebook page, she expressed some love and gives Ihedioha assurance of her full support.

She wrote;

“My Love, my Partner and my Friend. Nkem! #IGotYourBack”

On the other hand, Nigeria’s electoral board at about 4:10 pm on Wednesday issued a certificate of return to Hope Uzodinma, an All Progressive Congress member.
