Announcement on Liverpool’s official website on Sunday, 2nd February, reveals that the 21-year-old UK born Nigerian, Rinsola Babajide who plays forward for Liverpool Women football club, won an award for the female player of the month.
Rinsola who owns dual citizenship of both Nigeria and United Kingdom has featured from the start of the Reds last three games in January, including the Super League victory at Bristol City and the FA Cup win against Blackburn Rovers.
The forward while reacting to the Award said: “I’m really honoured to be Player of the Month and thanks to all the fans that voted.
“I feel like our performances have been getting better all the time and two back-to-back wins show that. Now we need another three points and that would be massive for us,” She said.
When asked which of her goals was her own favourite?
She said, “It was the volley [past Blackburn] for me, though I’m not sure which one the fans enjoyed most,” she said.
“We just needed to hit the back of the net because we’ve been playing well without scoring so it’s a confidence boost for all of us.”
9jatoday understands that Liverpool in the men category has been performing wonderfully well since last season.
The Klopp boys so far have won 24 games out of the 25 played to earn a 22 point clear from their closest title contenders, Manchester City and Leicester City.
