Childhood and Early Life of Burna Boy

Damini Ogulu a.k.a Burna Boy was born on the 2nd of July, 1991, in Port Harcourt, River State, Nigeria. Burna Boy is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Ogulu, Burna Boys’ mother Bose Ogulu is one of the Late Fela Anikulapo’s backup dancers. Burna Boy has two sisters out of which one of them (Nissi) is also a musician like him.

The fact that Burna Boys’ mom is Late Fela Anikulapo’s backup dancer and his grandfather also was Fela Kuti’s Manager has made Burna Boy develop much interest in the late icon Fela Anikulapos pattern of singing.

Though Burna Boy has been composing songs since he was at the age of 10 and one of his classmates gave him a copy of the popular Fruity Loops production software (FL Studio). This assisted him in making some unique flows at his tender age.

Unfortunately, he was arrested and tried in the court of law of which he was sentenced to 11 months jail term and two months of community service which he refused to finish, then he got deported to Nigeria and also got banned from entering the United Kingdom (UK) for 15 years.
