Fausat Balogun, popularly known as Madam Saje, revealed why she always acts as the mother of the popular actor, Odunlade Adekola in Yoruba films.
The symbiotic connection between the two in the roles of mother and child in the cinema usually gives the impression that they are familiar in real life, though they are not.
However, Madam Saje, in an interview said that although they are actors and must interpret their roles in order to make it real, she enjoys some kind of understanding and connection with Odunlade Adekola.
“I play his mother, many times in the cinema, and that’s because, we both understand each other a lot, without even talking, I know his next actions in the cinema. He’s my son, and we understand each other a lot. So, with him as my son in the cinema, be sure that the interpretation will be perfectly done ”, she said.
The veteran actress began her journey in the film industry 45 years ago and said Nollywood had given her everything in life, including her husband Rafiu Balogun, who is also a veteran actor.
She joined her husband’s theater group in 1975 and after working together, they decided to get married in 1979.
She said that despite being one of the biggest names in the industry, she still learns a lot from her husband.
My husband has never acted as my husband in any movie, he usually takes on the role of an elderly man. Sometimes, if I don’t play my roles well, he scolds me and makes a face. He’s still my teacher, ”she said.
