BREAKING: 15 Persons Injured as Cultists Clash in Ibadan

There was an uproar at Born Photo area, Idi Arere, Ibadan, after a bloody clash between two rival groups in the area, leaving no fewer than 15 people injured.

Sporadic deafening gunfire exploded in the area on Saturday night, causing panic among residents of the Gege, Ita-Sakun, Ita-Maya and Oke-Ado areas in Ibadan.

Security was tightened in the areas on Saturday night after the bloody clash between two rival groups in the area.

Bloody clashes between rival groups in the areas have claimed several lives in the recent past, forcing residents to flee high-risk areas due to relentless bloody clashes between rival cults.

It was concluded that the fighting broke out in the area when two groups of factions, whose identities were not yet known, were lurking in the battle of supremacy against each other.

Although the real cause of the confrontation cannot be ascertained from the time of submission of this report, it was concluded that shopkeepers and residents of the area were running for safety in the early hours of Saturday, after sporadic shots between warring groups.

An eye witness said a person was seriously injured during the fight that lasted more than an hour.

He, however, said the condition of the injured person could not be determined as he was immediately rushed to an undisclosed hospital.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Oyo State Command, Olugbenga Fadeyi, confirmed the incident.

He said commanders were sent to the scene to prevent the total breakdown of law and order.

Fadeyi emphasized: “There was a confrontation. Police have been in the area since the incident happened to calm the situation. Our men are still on the ground to ensure that there is no breach of law and order. “
