Sanwo-Olu Pardons Funke Akindele, JJC Skillz, 56 Others
Governor of Lagos state, Babajide Sanwo olu has approved the release of 56 inmates and granted State pardon to Funke Akindele and JJC Skillz.
Reports on 9ja news says that the Governor of Lagos state, Babajide Sanwoolu has approved the release of 56 inmates and granted State pardon to Actress Funke Akindele-Bello and her husband, Abdulrasheed Bello popularly known as JJC Skillz.
Funke Bello and JJC Skillz were convincted by a Lagos Magistrate Court on April 6 for violating COVID-19 lockdown regulations.
A statement signed by the State Attorney-General, Mr. Moyosore Onigbanjo, SAN, said theat the Governor acted based on the recommendations of the State Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy, under the powers conferred on the Governor by Section 212 (1) & (2) of the Constitution.
“The 56 released inmates were recommended by the Advisory Council after due examination of their case files and consideration of the length of time served, the gravity of offence, old age and ill-health among other parameters”.
Beneficiaries were also enjoined by the Attorney General to stay away from crime.
