COVID-19 Cases In Osun Increases To 14, Third Highest In Nigeria

Osun State has recorded an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases, making it the third-highest in the country.

The Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC), in its recent update, said 12 new cases were reported in Nigeria, including nine in Osun State, showing a huge increase jumping from five to 14.

The total number of pandemic cases in Nigeria has now increased to 151.

“At 12:30 pm on April 1, there were 151 confirmed cases, nine were discharged and two deaths, ”said the NCDC.

A breakdown of the cases shows that the pandemic was recorded in 11 states and in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

Lagos led the ranking with 82 cases, followed by FCT, Abuja with 28 cases.

President Muhammadu Buhari had ordered the restriction of movement in Lagos, Abuja and Ogun a few days ago.

The president said in his statement that the lockdown order is part of measures to reduce the spread of the virus in the country.

He also signed the COVID-19 Regulation, 2020, which declared COVID-19 to be a dangerous infectious disease.

The COVID-19 2020 Regulation is aligned with the exercise of the powers conferred on President Buhari by Sections 2, 3 and 4 of the Quarantine Law (CAP Q2 LFN 2004), and all other powers that qualify him for that name.
