UK Records Over 500 Daily COVID-19 Deaths For First Time

Britain recorded 563 daily deaths from coronavirus on Wednesday, the first time the national number had exceeded 500, bringing the total number of deaths to 2,352, according to official data.

“At 5 pm (4 pm in Brasilia), on March 31, of those hospitalized in the UK who tested positive for the coronavirus, 2,352 died sadly,” said the Ministry of Health on its official Twitter page.

Some 29,474 people have tested positive, an increase of 4,324 over the previous day, he added.

Britain locked up last week in an attempt to fight the virus, but Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who tested positive, warned that “it will get worse before it gets better”.

The virus also hit the royal family, with Prince Charles leaving isolation only on Tuesday after showing little symptoms of the disease.

He then released a video message praising the “remarkable” National Health Service on Wednesday. “None of us can tell when it will end, but it will end,” he said.

“Until that happens, we will all try to live with hope and, with faith in ourselves and the other, we hope for better times to come.”
