BREAKING: President Buhari To Address Nigerians At 7pm Today

President Muhammadu Buhari will address Nigerians at 7 pm on Monday.

The special adviser to the president of media and advertising, Femi Adesina, announced this in a statement hours before President Buhari was scheduled to speak to Nigerians.

“Television, radio and other electronic media are required to connect the network services of the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), respectively, to the broadcast,” he said.

The president must address Nigerians about the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19), as some residents of Lagos, Ogun and the Federal Capital Territory hope to know whether the blockade would be extended or not.

More than one million positive cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed with thousands of deaths recorded in many countries worldwide.

On April 12, the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) said that a total of 323 cases were confirmed with 10 deaths in the country.

He noted that 19 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) registered at least one confirmed case of coronavirus, while a total of 85 people were dismissed.

On March 29, President Muhammadu Buhari declared a lockdown in Lagos and Ogun, as well as in Abuja, as part of measures to reduce the spread of the disease and relieve the stress of identifying contacts with confirmed cases.

In his last broadcast, President Buhari said that the movement restriction would last an initial period of 14 days starting at 11 pm on March 30.

He explained that the decision was made based on the opinion of the Federal Ministry of Health and the NCDC.

The President advised residents of the affected locations to postpone travel, while all businesses and offices should be fully closed during the blockade period.

Before the day when the lockdown is due to end – April 13, some residents of Lagos and Ogun State have raised alarm over disturbances in their communities.

Despite parading at least 150 suspects recently, Ogun’s police commissioner Kenneth Ebrimson downplayed reports of unrest in parts of the state.

Ebrimson, who spoke on Monday during an interview on the Sunrise Daily, explained: “I think we are dealing with the issue of seizure. Earlier this month, there was a cult supremacy battle in Ifo and the police accepted the challenge and arrested some of them. ”

“After that, this snowball arrived in the area of Agbado, Ijoko, Ota and we assembled a team to go after the cultists and, since then, we have made arrests.

“People are calling me, there is no day when I don’t get almost 100 calls. Most of these calls are false alarms. Social media is spreading fear,” he added.
