Lagos State Commissioner of Health Akin Abayomi said Abba Kyari’s Chief Of Staff to the President, who last week tested positive for Coronavirus disease, is recovering and looks well and happy.
The commissioner said this on Tuesday, while answering questions from journalists.
He, however, noted that he is unaware of Kyari’s current location, but the two are in constant communication on strategic issues.
“I don’t know the chief of staff’s itinerary, so I don’t know where he is.
“We exchange messages on WhatsApp, but from WhatsApp, you don’t know where someone is.
“We are exchanging information, but I did not ask for his location. He looks good and happy and we are exchanging information on strategic issues and we have been talking about his health for a long time, so I assume he has fully recovered,” said Abayomi.
This is days after the chief of staff confirmed his health status in an official statement.
In the statement signed personally by him on Sunday, according to the presidential advisor, based on medical advice, he will be transferred to Lagos for further tests and observations after positive tests for COVID-19.
Kyari said he would receive treatment at his own expense so as not to overburden the public health system, although he claimed he did not have a high fever or any other symptoms associated with the disease.
While explaining that he has been working at home since he obtained a positive result, the chief of staff said he hopes to return to his desk soon.
However, in the meantime, he said he has young, professional, knowledgeable and patriotic colleagues who work seven days a week to serve the President and the people of Nigeria.
