Anambra Police Shot Dead Two Robbers, Recover Items

Reports reaching 9jatoday as confirmed by Anambra State Police Command, reveals that two robbers have been wasted in a fire exchange with some police operatives in the state.

According to the the report which was given on Monday, spokesperson of the State Police Command, SP Haruna Mohammed, disclosed this some police operatives attached to the Command Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) has shot dead two suspected arm robbers.

He said the incident happened at about 1:15 pm on Monday when they received a distress call and stormed the hideout of the robbery gang who allegedly attacked one Chiegulem Chidera ‘m’ at Agouye Umuko Awka and snatched his Nissan Xtera jeep with Reg number Cross River GGJ 402 AA at gunpoint.

“The suspects were trailed to Nkwo Agulu and on sighting the Police opened fire after which the police responded promptly. As a result,the two suspects one Onyebuchi Ngala ‘m’ aka Ceaser and Izuchukwu Okoro ‘m’ were fatally wounded during the gun encounter. They were taken to the hospital for treatment but confirmed dead on arrival by the medical doctor,” said SP Mohammed.

9jatoday understands that the robbers were said to also have been responsible for the Abduction of one Engr Emeka Chiaghana ‘m’ of Nibo on 25/10/2019.

Mohammed added that the operatives successfully recover the following exhibits from the suspects; The snatched Xtera SUV, one Ak 47 rifle, one pump action gun, six life cartridges, four expended ammunition, five life ammunition of 7.62mm and two Ak47 magazines.

He stated further that the case is still under investigation and effort is ongoing to locate the whereabouts of the abducted victim.

In another news, 9jatoday reported that Imo State police command has through its spokesperson confirmed the death of one Akunacha, who kills himself by jumping down from a two-storey building after an attempted robbery.

The police spokesman, Orlando Ikeokwu, confirmed on Sunday that the burglar, who confessed his name as Uche Akunacha, 41 from Owerri, has died after jumping from a two-storey building, running from the apartment of one Tochukwu Okafor, where he attempted to steal from.

Ikeokwu explained that Okafor tried to prevent the burglar from escaping the room by raising alarm, but that he managed to escape and jumped to his death.
