Bauchi’s governor, Bala Mohammed, is now isolated by fears of contracting coronavirus after his contact with Atiku Abubakar’s son, said the state’s chief of staff, Ladan Salihu.
Atiku made a public announcement via Twitter on Sunday night about his son being positive for the pandemic.
Reactions, mainly sympathies, followed the announcement, although the Nigeria Center for Disease Control, (NCDC), has yet to recognize the development.
Through his tweets on Twitter, Salihu explained that Governor Mohammed, alongside his entourage, met the former vice-president’s son during the flight from Lagos to Abuja.
He added that they all took the test as well and expect the result at the time of this report.
The tweet says:
“Our Governor Bala Mohammed in self-isolation following contact with Atiku Abubakar’s Son. Yes. We were on the same flight from Lagos to Abuja. They shook hands and exchanged pleasantries. The Gov and the rest of us have taken tests. The results will be negative in sha Allah.”
So far, the NCDC has confirmed 36 cases of coronavirus in Abuja, Lagos, Ogun, Ekiti and Oyo and one death.
