Apologize To Us Too – Bovi Challenges ThisDay Newspaper Over US Visa Saga

Bovi

Popular Nigerian comedian, Bovi Ugbomo has reacted to the apology publication by ThisDay Newspaper which was addressed to Bishop Oyedepo, The General Overseer of the Living Faith Church over the rumour of being denied Visa by the US Embassy last week.

9jatoday recalled that ThisDay Newspaper in one of their publication last week reported that the Bishop was denied a visa to travel out of the country. A report that stirred up a barrage of reactions among Nigerians.

The publication which goes viral in the last also stated that Bovi and Wife were at the Embassy too, but that he was issued a visa in the US Embassy while his wife, Kris Ugboma was denied.

A few moments after the news has spread over all media houses, it was confirmed by the US Embassy that nothing of such ever happened, that Bishop Oyedepo was not denied a visa, and that he was never there at the reported time.

Also, ThisDay Newspaper had published an apology in their recent publication to apologize to Bishop Oyedepo over their publication which happens to be a false report of the clergy and the US Embassy.

The letter read;

“In our story: Drama as US Embassy Denies Bishop Oyedepo Visa, publish in our Friday, January 31, 2020 edition, we stated that Bishop Oyedepo was denied a visa by the US Embassy. We have since found this to be incorrect. We apologise to the revered Bishop and regret the embarrassment this might have caused him.”

It was in this regard that Bovi raised his voice that the apology published by ThisDay Newspaper is yet to be complete without the mention of his name and that of his wife, who was mentioned to be present and involved in visa drama scene.

Bovi took to his social media to say, “Dear @thisdaynewspaper Editor, I just woke up to your apology to Bishop Oyedepo about the false story you published on him.

“I’m beginning to question whether you even read the story you’re apologizing for in the first place. Because if you did, you will know that in the reporter’s bid to add sting to the story, it was stated that I was issued the visa while my wife was denied.”

“The slide above shows that neither I nor my wife was at the embassy on the said date, as your report suggests. Did you think my name and that of my wife in your sensational story were inanimate objects? Are you trying to measure us? What makes you think that the spice you added in cooking a poisonous meal should not be sifted as you try to purify your brand? Do you have any idea how damaging your story was to our peaceful life? Do you know how many calls and texts we had to respond to because of your story?”

He added, “What you have done is irresponsible, unprofessional, condescending and indecent. Your job is based primarily on research and information gathering. So if you really do not know me, note that I’m as global as your mind can imagine.”

“If you’re apologizing to the Bishop, it is incomplete without recourse to me and my family.
I urge you to further your education to avoid such errors in future. Thank you.”
