Information reaching us at 9jatoday that at least 30 people have been killed, while several others injured as armed men suspected of being bandits attacked some villages in the local government areas of Igabi and Giwa, in Kaduna state.
The affected villages are Kerawa, Rago, Marina, Zariyawa, Hashimawa, Gidan Musa Saidu and Unguwar Barau.
Although police authorities and the Kaduna state government have yet to confirm the attack, an indigenous man from the local government of Giwa said that Nigerian Army and Air Force troops launched offensive attacks against the bandits and, in the process, killed many of them.
Sources also said the bandits launched the attacks in what appears to be revenge against residents they accused of providing information to security agencies that resulted in the death of their members.
At the time of submitting this report, the military is still carrying out offensive attacks on the bandit-occupied fields within the dense forests in the local government areas of Giwa, Birnin Gwari and Igabi.
