Earlier today 9jatoday reported about four prospective Corp members of the NYSC (National Youth Service Corps) kidnapped on Monday night in Katsina State, Information reaching us that they have been rescued.
The police rescued them in an operation that began Tuesday morning.
It was concluded that the victims, made up of three men and a woman, were being taken to the NYSC camp in Katsina by a police convoy, where they were likely to undergo the orientation exercise.
The victims were taken by armed men at around 11:30 pm on Monday, after a bus they chartered from the Polytechnic Rufus Giwa Owo, Ondo State to take them to Zamfara, was attacked in Katsina.
While nine of the 13 occupants of the bus escaped the kidnap, four of them were not so lucky.
It was concluded that the kidnappers phoned the families around midnight on Wednesday and demanded N10m rescue.
According to one of the parents of one of the victims, the kidnappers called with the same number they used to reach him the day before, which the police used to track them.
“I just spoke to the police commissioner now and he told me that the four were rescued. I am grateful to the police for rescuing them. The kidnappers called again around midnight, and this time someone who knew how to speak English was on the other side. They said that I have to bring N10m for my son to be released.
“But I didn’t pay anything and they were rescued. I am grateful that the children are safe and taken to the NYSC Camp in Katsina, ”said the father.
