Barely 24 hours to swearing, news reaching 9jatoday confirms that the Supreme Court has sacked David Lyon, Bayelsa State governor-elect, and his deputy, Senator Biobarakuma Degi-Eremienyo.

9jatoday also understands that the Supreme Court in its ruling has declared the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Douye Diri as the duly elected governor of Bayelsa State.

The Independent National Electoral Commission has been directed in regards to the development, to withdraw the Certificate of Return previously issued to the All Progressives Congress candidates and hand it over to the newly declared winner.

This media learned that Justice Mary Peter-Odili, in-charge of the ruling sacked Lyon for presenting a running mate with a fake certificate in the November 16, 2019 governorship election in the state.
