10. Sukhoi Su-27

It can fly at high altitudes at high speeds up to 2.83 Mach (3494.48 km / h). It’s jet engines D30-F6, each with a thrust of 152 kN, allow the speed of Mach 1.23 (1499 km / h) at low altitude.
The MiG-31 was one of the first planes with phased array radar and as of 2013, it was one of two fighter jets in the world capable of firing long-range air-to-air missiles freely.
It was also the world’s first operational fighter with the Zaslon S-800, a passive electronically digitized matrix (PESA) radar.
Its maximum range against fighter targets is about 200 km, and it can track up to 10 targets and achieve four of them simultaneously with its Vympel R-33 rockets.
The aircraft has been in production since 1975, the Russian Air Force and the Kazakh Air Force are still using the MiG-31 and will continue in service until or beyond 2030.
6. North American XF-108 Rapier

The North American Rapier XF-108 was a long-range, high-speed interceptor aircraft designed by North American Aviation to protect the United States from fast supersonic Soviet bombers.

With radar and rockets providing engagement capabilities of up to 100 miles (160 km) against bomber-sized targets.
The USAF continued to develop the F-108 radar and missiles, and eventually, the system was used in the Lockheed YF-12 project.
5. Bell X-2
The Starbuster was a faster American research aircraft flying for the first time in 1955 and retired in 1956.
It was part of the X-2 program and so its area of investigation was to see how airplanes behaved at altitudes above Mach 2.0 when traveling.
Without weapons like the missile launching system, it featured a kickback wing that enables it to have some air resistance and prepared to face the incredible speed of Mach 3,196 in 1956.
Accidentally, the driver made a sharp turn shortly after reaching a very high speed and then fell out of control. He failed to recover the aircraft’s power and fled.
Unfortunately, the rescue parachute’s small parachute was only launched, and it hit the ground very quickly.
The Starbuster program ended this deadly collision.
4. Mikoyan MiG-25

This Soviet-built aircraft was among the fastest airplanes in the world and also one of the fastest fighter planes in the USSR.
It was introduced to join the flight to attack American fighter planes during the cold war, such as the SR 71 blackbird and high-speed surveillance planes.
Since they intended using it to attack the SR 71, excessive speed was a necessity, hence its maximum Mach 3.2 capacity.
Unlike Blackbird, Foxbat contained 4 air-to-air missiles that made it an interceptor and not a surveillance plane.
It never fired a Blackbird, but had many other effective combat missions, for example, in the conflict between Iran and Iraq.
Between 1964 and 1984, more than 1100 Foxbats were built, but today they restrict their use, with Russia, Syria, Algeria and Turkmenistan the only consumers. The MiG-25 was also the fastest airplane the MiGFlug has ever provided for fun flights – they used it primarily for space-edge missions.
3. Lockheed YF-12

It is the largest, heaviest and fastest interceptor aircraft in the world to date. It has also set and maintained speed records for the world’s fastest airplane, at an altitude of more than 2000 miles per hour (3,200 kph) and more than 80,000 feet (24,000 m) (later surpassed by the SR 71 blackbird).
2. Lockheed SR 71 Blackbird

Both the USAF and NASA used the SR 71 Blackbird after its production started in 1966. In collaboration, they built 32 Blackbirds and used it for reconnaissance and experimental research.
It showed stealth technology, even if enemy fighter planes were detected, this plane was able to escape easily because of its incredible speed.
It could easily bypass the interceptors or surface-to-air missiles launched at it. The Blackbird was so fast that there was no time for the air in front of it to slide, thus increasing the pressure near its nose, which increased its internal temperature by too much friction.
The temperature of the fighter jet was sometimes very high, which expanded the metal, so it had to be built by small pieces.
Because of this, after landing or being stopped, the SR-71 spilled oil. The SR 71 was the fastest and tallest operational manned military aircraft in the world for its entire career.

As part of the X-plane experimental aircraft series, the American X-15 was a hypersonic rocket-powered plane operated by USAF and NASA. For the fastest plane that transported a human, this jet rocket has the current world record.
Its top speed was Mach 6.70 (about 7,200 kph) which is achieved with a pilot qualified as astronaut William J Chevalier, on October 3, 1967.
They included a large wedge tail to stabilize the aircraft at these super high altitudes.
But the disadvantage of this was that, at the lowest altitude, the dragging of such a tail was enormous.
A B-52 had to carry it to an altitude of approximately 14,000 meters before leaving it, in which it started its own engines.
