Fayemi Imposes Curfew in Ekiti State

Kayode Fayemi

The Ekiti state Governor, kayode Fayemi, has declared a 24-hour curfew across the state after the peaceful #EndSARS protests was hijacked by hoodlums.

According to Governor Fayemi, the spate of violence, looting and rape in the last 48 hours necessitated the imposition of the curfew.

“The hoodlums have capitalised on the ENDSARS protest to rape, assault, rob and extort innocent citizens across the state, in addition to the wanton destruction of properties, particularly private properties.

“Government is concerned that if this state of affairs is allowed to continue unabated, it will lead to a breakdown of law and order thereby threatening the wellbeing of the people of Ekiti State”.

Governor Fayemi announced this in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Biodun Oyebanji.

The curfew is expected to take effect from 10:00 pm on Tuesday.
