Feeling uncomfortable with claims by some Nigerians that singer, Burna Boy was robbed of the 2020 Grammy Awards, popular producer and content creator, Shade Dolapo, took to her Instagram page to challenge their claims.
9jatoday recalls that Burna had been listed among top nominees in the category for Best World Music Album in the just concluded award, but unfortunately lost to his female contender, Angelique Kidjo.
However, Angelique Kidjo, while speaking after receiving the award noted that the African Giant, Burna Boy is one of the African singers who have changed the mindset of the world on Africans through their style of music.
Shade Ladipo who did not agree with people’s saying the Burna Boy was cheated, took to her Instagram page to give her reasons.
According to Shade, Burna Boy was lucky to have his name on the list of nominees in the just concluded Award.
She points that if legendary, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, who Burna Boy make his role model was to be alive today, that he will be in the best position to challenge Angelique Kidjo in the Award, and not the African Giant.
“If Fela was alive, Fela and Angelique Kidjo, they’re mates,” She said.
“#MyFellowHumans. It’s been a minute but I had to just drop this video real quick.”
“For the Burna Boy fans who claim he has been cheated, pls know your history, know your music,”
“Burna is a great artiste but it takes more than 1 Album and 2 years of Faux touring the US to become the standard for World Music,”
