COVID-19: FG Calls for Massive Production of Face Masks

The Presidential Task Force (PTF) on the new coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) has demanded that clothing manufacturers across the country start mass production of protective masks as part of the national effort to defeat the outbreak.

The Federation’s government secretary (SGF), Boss Mustapha, who is also the president of PTF, made the call during Thursday’s issue of the daily media briefing by the task force.

Mustapha, who recalled that regular use of face masks, especially when he was away from home, was one of the critical regulations given against the contraction and spread of the disease, charged Nigerians to take responsibility and play their part in fighting it.

“It is essential to repeat, however, that compliance with personal hygiene warnings, social detachment, restricted movement, early notification of symptoms and regular use of masks on a regular basis, especially in public, remain the best measures for preventing infections and slow down the spread.

“Let me also encourage all of our clothing and tailor factories across the country that it’s time to start producing locally, using our local fabrics, Ankara and all the other materials we have, due to the recommendations that, as much as possible , we must use our masks whenever we are away from home, so we will reduce the chances, in addition to other necessary things you need to do, of infecting or infecting others.

“PTF calls on Nigerians to take responsibility and perform their roles properly. As everyone knows, we are in a state of war against an invisible enemy, ”he said.

The SGF also accused the public of being more civilized and cooperative whenever interacting with law enforcement officials during the lockdown, noting that they were sent for the protection and security of all Nigerians.

“Let me also advise that, whenever you are outside the confines of your home, check whether it is for very legitimate reasons covered by the exemption or within a relaxed period of time for the purchase of basic items.

“Likewise, you must take a valid means of identification with you. Finally, I ask everyone to please be patient in communicating with law enforcement officers assigned to ensure compliance with presidential orders. They are there to protect us all! PTF continues to count on the collective cooperation of all Nigerians in our effort to curb the spread of this deadly virus, ”he said.
