In a report to newsmen on Friday, some unidentified gunmen assumed to be Jukun Militia had launched an attack on residents of Ibua, a community in Wukari-Ibi Road in Ibi Local Government Area, Taraba state killing no less than two while they also razed down houses.

9jatoday understands that the incident had happened on Thursday evening at about 7:00 pm as disclosed by a resident.

According to the villager who reveals the incident to newsmen, Militiamen had entered the community around 7:00 pm on Thursday night and killed about 2 persons, raze down several houses with fire and also wounded some with stray bullets.

The witness whose name is given as Orhembaga Laregh, narrates to The PUNCH in a telephone interview that the gunmen invaded the village on Thursday evening and shot sporadically before setting their houses on fire.

Also reporting, a different person identified as Terngu Deior, reveals that he was sitting in front of his house when suddenly he saw armed men trooping into the village from Wukari axis.

“I escaped through the back door and ran to the nearby police checkpoint but there was nobody to report to,” He said.

Taraba State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP. David Misal, confirmed the incident to The PUNCH, noting that the gunmen suspected to be Jukun youths carried out the attack.

“Information available to us indicates that gunmen suspected to be Jukun youths attacked a Tiv village in Ibi LGA and killed two persons.

“Some thatch houses were also burnt in the attack believed to be the lingering crisis between the Jukun and the Tiv in the area.”

“The Divisional Police Officer of Ibi is leading a team of police officers on a manhunt of the attackers,” he said.

Meanwhile, in another news, 9jatoday reports that Katsina State Police command through its Police Public Relations Officer, SP Gambo Isah, disclosed that the state police command has rescued some abductees in the number of 26 from their abductors.

9jatoday understands that the 26 abductees were kidnapped in January 2020, after an attack launched by over a hundred of gunmen at Badna Buruku village of Chukum Local Government Area of Kaduna state.
