2.CHECK YOUR SKILLS
This is another important factor to consider when starting your new business. First, you need to determine if you have what it takes to handle the business operations on your own especially at the early stages where there might be limited time and you juggling between your regular job and making out time to get your business off the ground. You need to decide if you can do it alone or seek external assistance and this external help can come in the form of a trusted permanent hire worker or a part-time worker.
3.CHECK AND CONSIDER YOUR EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT
In some organization, working employees are easy going and won’t mind that much if their employees disappear from their duty post from time to time in an unrelated office business – as long as it doesn’t affect their input they see no cause for alarm.
Be that as it may, you still need to check our employment contract paper to see if there is a clause that prohibits such a disappearing act because you won’t want to risk losing your job while trying to start a new business. And if your contract clearly goes against such act and you have a strict employer, then you may need to wait till you know you are well-off in savings to officially quit your job and focus more on your business.
4. CONSIDER YOUR OFFICE
As stated earlier, you might be lucky to have an employer who doesn’t mind much if you go out for some hours as long as you the permission to do so. However, you need to consider your company’s policy and be respectful of your office time. It is not wise to over-step your boundaries and abuse whatever privilege given to you by using the company’s time to work on your own business. You just have to make sacrifices and find that extra time outside your office time and dedicate it to your business.
Starting a new business is more likely to take up a whole lot of your time and barely leave you with any social life. So for aspiring entrepreneurs who intend to start a business venture while still gainfully employed, you need to take a good look at your career and see how you can balance the negative and positive effects of starting a new venture while still working your full-time job.
