Veteran Nollywood Actress Patience Oseni has just passed on, she died on Monday.
Emeka Rollas, the president of the Nigeria Actors’ Association, confirmed her death on Wednesday.
According to Mr. Emeka; “With a deep sense of sadness, but with total submission to the will of Almighty God, we announce the passage to the eternal glory of Patience Oseni, a veteran actress and member of the Nigeria Actors’ Association,” the statement said.
The deceased actress battled over stroke for many years. In 2017, she was one of 24 sick Nollywood actors who benefited from a N3.5 million donation from Chris Okafor, pastor of the Church of Liberation, Lagos.
She also benefited from another N5 million lifeline donated by former Senate President Bukola Saraki to assist Nollywood actors in 2019.
Madame Oseni moved to Calabar a few years ago, to be closer to her family. She was famous for her leading role in Helen Ukpabio’s 1999 hit film “End of the Wicked”.
She played a dual role in the film; a bad mother and a sweet mother tormenting her children.
The film was expository and, to date, it is still relevant. She won four awards, including an international award.
She has also participated in other Nollywood hits like Heat of the Moment (2009) and ‘Married to a witch’ (2001).
Her career spanned for 24 years. She has won several awards in her life. She was popularly called “The End of the Wicked Mother” because it was the film that brought her into the spotlight.
A former billboard model, her father was from Ogun state and mother from Cross River state.
She started her acting career in 1995 in Opa Williams’ “Deadly Passion”. She played the role of a pregnant girl alongside Emeka Ike.
