He further noted that “the approval puts an end to eight years of agitation for salary increases by doctors in the state.
The statement said: “CONMESS is applicable to doctors and dentists, medical and veterinary consultants, while CONHESS is applicable to all health professionals in the Ministry of Health and in all state health units on the Board of Directors Hospitals. .
“I described the government’s decision as timely and humane. It is a promotion of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola’s promise to renew the health sector and prioritize the welfare of workers in the state.
“The new wage structure would greatly help to improve the general well-being of health workers, thus encouraging improvement in the provision of services.
“This is a joy for us in the health sector in particular and in the state in general, as the gesture would put an end to some of the challenges we face.
“As we all know, the agitation of the revised Consolidated Medical Salary Structure known as CONMESS and Consolidated Health Salary Structure is known as CONHESS has been going on for almost eight years and, with this approval, our doctors and other health professionals would start to live a better life.
“We have lost many doctors, consultants, surgeons, pharmacists, gynecologists and more to other hospitals due to the inability of the previous administration to implement these new salary structures.
“Sir. The governor’s gesture will not only prevent the brain drain but also make the health sector more attractive, attractive and rewarding for health professionals.
“With the approval of the revised CONMESS and CONHESS, the state can now compete favourably with our peers anywhere in the country.
“Therefore, I must commend the Governor for this achievement, as it would help to redefine the health sector for efficiency, proficiency and effectiveness,” added Isamotu.
