According to a recent survey being carried out has shown that Nigeria produces at least 7% of the quantity of palm oil in the world, mind you, there are some states that made this possible in Nigeria but much attention isn’t drawn towards them.

1. Akwa Ibom State

Rivers State is the 6th most populous state in Nigeria, the major source of IGR for the state is also through crude oil, and aside crude oil there are other things that fetch the citizens money and indirectly generate income for the country too. Rivers state is also a top producer of palm oil in Nigeria.

Palm oil production in Rivers state is particular to Etche and Ikwerre local government area, though the production is practiced in every corner of the state.

4. Abia State

In the South Eastern region, Abia state is the leading producer of palm oil. Abia state is well known for palm oil production  and according to the obtained data from the ministry of agriculture it is noted that Abia state produces over 190,00 metric tonnes of palm oil annually with a lot of palm kernel placing the state on the 4th spot of the highest producers of palm oil.

Abia state also produces cashew, plantain, cocoa, rubber and many more which has eally boosted the IGR of the state.

5. Edo State

Edo State is also one of the largest producers of palm oil in Nigeria. The state is located in the mid-western region of Nigeria. With favorable climatic conditions that enable high yield of farm produce, of recent the government of Edo state set up plans to establish the Edo Oil Palm Initiative in which 51 hectares of land were donated to start the scheme.

This was done mainly before of the increase in the production of palm oil in the state in recent years.

6. Ondo State

Ondo State is located in the South-Western region of Nigeria, the state is blessed with crude oil and many other natural resources. Ondo state is also one of the top 10 palm oil producing states in Nigeria.

Akure is the state capital of Ondo and the commercial center of the state with a good number of people residing in it is known for the production of Cocoa and is the top cocoa producer in Nigeria.

Most of Ondo state revenue is generated through agricultural produce, the state is also among the Niger Delter States which simply means it is an oil producing state (crude oil) though at a little quantity.

Imo State is located in the South Eastern region of Nigeria and Owerri as its capital city. Imo State is also one of the largest producers of palm oil in Nigeria, we have to attribute the credits to the state government for making this feat achievable.

The government encouraged farmers with farming tools and a palm oil processing factory to make the process faster and at a huge volume.

8. Delta State

Delta State is rated as one of the biggest oil producers in Nigeria and this can be attributed to the climate and vegetation of the state being a state surrounded by water. The government of Delta state has also been so supportive and the farmers are not getting tired doing what they love.

Recently, the state provided 1.2 million hectares for palm oil production, the project had support from the Central Bank of Nigeria with the aim to increase jobs and wealth for the people of Delta and also to assist the country in revenue generation.

9. Bayelsa State

Bayelsa State also made it on the list of top palm oil producers in Nigeria, Delta has a oil palm mill (WJICY) which is a semi-mechanized palm oil mill to boost the production of palm oil in the state.

The state right from onset is known to be a palm oil producing state and much effort is being put in place to make sure much oil is being produced annually.

10. Anambra State

Anambra state isn’t left out in this as the state is also among the major palm oil producing states in Nigeria. The state produces for commercial consumption.

Anambra state is known to be one of the most developed states in the South Eastern region of the country and also a state that loves agriculture practices.
