A 24-hour curfew has been imposed on the Cross River state, Prof Ben Ayade starting from 6pm on Friday.
In a statement signed by the Special Adviser Media and Publicity to the governor, Christian Ita, the curfew followed “the hijacking of the peaceful protest against police brutality in the state by hoodlums.”
The Governor warned that security agents have been ordered to arrest anyone that flouts the order.
“Residents of the state are advised to observe the curfew as security agents have been mandated to arrest anybody who flouts it”.
The state government’s house was looted by hoodlums on Bishop Moinagh Avenue on Friday carting away bags of rice, garri, cartons of noodles and other commodities.
