Riot In Bayelsa as Police Shot Dead Corp Member

A Policeman in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State is on the run after shooting dead a corp member, cab driver and another.

The incident which happened on Monday has left the Bayelsa state capital in the commotion after the policeman who reportedly shot dead the three people escaped.

This awful situation has led angry youths to start destroying a part of the bank where the incident happened, protest the killing.

Reports have it that the policeman who escaped through a commercial tricycle had opened fire on a commercial bus belonging to Peace Mass, a popular transport company in Yenagoa, leading to the death of the three men along a new generation bank at the Ekeki axis of the capital city.

According to reports from The Nation, the policeman who is on guard had angrily opened fire on the bus because the driver stopped the ill-fated bus in front of the bank.

“the driver was still behind the wheels of his vehicle when the policeman released the shot. we were just in front of here when the policeman started the argument that led to the shooting”, said an eyewitness who described the shooting as totally unnecessary.

“There are about three policemen guarding the bank, but this particular one has been troublesome. He is always aggressive and is always harassing and extorting commercial tricycles here. It is very disheartening. The bus came from Onitsha in Anambra State without problems only for this ugly incident to happen at its destination,” he retorted.

However, The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Asinim Butswat, reported that the policeman had been arrested and taken to the Criminal Investigation Department.
