9ja today understands that following the accident at Oshodi involving a train and two vehicles on Monday, the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the Minister of Transportation, Hon. Rotimi Amaechi has visited the scene of the accident.
On 9ja news, reports say that the Governor described the incident as “regrettable” especially “on the day stakeholders reached a consensus to close the gates into the arena”.
According to Sanwo-olu ” This is one of the concerns we have raised about commuters’ safety around the area. This accident should strengthen our resolve to prevent a reoccurrence.
This is also a clarion call on our people to be safety conscious whenever they need to drive across the rail track”.
He also urged members of the public to “keep a safe distance from the rail tracks”. Sanwo-Olu added that advocacy has started and that his administration will continue to intensify its effort.
“The safety of the people is paramount”. he said.
