UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson tested positive for coronavirus.

The prime minister announced on Twitter, saying: “In the past 24 hours, I developed mild symptoms and tested positive for the coronavirus.

“Now I am isolating myself, but I will continue to lead the government’s response by videoconference as we fight this virus.

“Together we will win this. #StayHomeSaveLives.”

Johnson said he is self-isolating and works from home. He said that thanks to the “magic of modern technology” he will continue to lead the nation against the virus.

He thanked the NHS and everyone who worked to keep the country going through the pandemic and emphasized again that staying at home is crucial to stop the spread of the virus.

According to Sky News, Downing Street said Johnson was tested on the recommendation of his chief physician, Professor Chris Whitty, after experiencing “mild symptoms” on Thursday.

“The test was carried out at No. 10 by the NHS team and the result was positive,” added the statement.

“According to the guidance, the prime minister is isolating himself on Downing Street.

According to the latest figures, 463 people died from the virus and more than 9,500 people were infected. London accounts for a third of the UK total.
