A Magistrate Court in Osogbo has declared six months jail term for a Woman who in her bid to save her son’s live stole a goat.
The woman identified as Sadiat Jimoh, 30, was sentenced 6 months in prison by an Osogbo magistrate court for stealing a she-goat.
The prosecutor, Abiodun Fagboyinbo in the court sitting told the court that Sadiat had stolen a she-goat valued at N45,000, which belongs to Fausat Adegboga on Sunday, January 5, at Agunbelewo area of Osogbo metropolis.
“Sadiat Jimoh and one other at large on January 5, at Agunbelewo in Osogbo did conspire to commit felony to wit stealing.
“The offence committed is contrary to and punishable under sections 516 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. Laws of Osun State Nigeria 2002.”
Sadiat had pleaded guilty to the two-count charge against her as she was arraigned before the court yesterday January 7.
She said that proceeds from the sale of the goat were meant to be for the treatment of her son who is sick.
However, her defence counsel, Abimbola Ige, on the other hand, pleaded with the court to temper justice with mercy, as the court sentenced Sadiat to six months in prison with N15,000 option of fine.
