Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state on Friday fired his special digital media assistant, Muritala Olajide Adigun, with immediate effect on the dissemination of misleading information.

This was transmitted at the end of the letter of appointment issued by the Secretary of State for Government (SSG), Ms. Olubamiwo Adeosun, with a reference number: SP / S.662 / 2 / Vol1 / 115.

Part of the letter of termination of appointment said: “I wish to convey the approval of His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, on the termination of your appointment as Special Assistant (Digital Media), with immediate effect.”

We confidently concluded that the dismissed media adviser carelessly posted unverified information on its Facebook page, which turned out to be false information.

This has led to a series of adverse reactions to the government. He allegedly stole the photo of one of the projects carried out by the Lagos state government, posting it on his Facebook page and crediting the projects to Governor Makinde’s projects.

Adigun said the state governor, in his readiness to fight the escalating Coronavirus, bought disinfection machines to be used across the state.

It was said that this infuriated the governor, who immediately sacked him. In his quick response to the plagiarism allegation, Mr. Adigun was quoted for writing on his Facebook page that:

“APC agent of darkness that hacked my Facebook account to disseminate this false information about the Oyo State Government yesterday won’t escape the hand of the law.”
