Some Angry Youths in Adamawa State have blocked the highway following a series of incessant kidnappings happening in Adamawa State.
9jatoday understands that the mob had blocked the federal highway linking Girei community to Yola, the capital of Adamawa and other parts of the state, leaving many travellers and motorist stranded on Tuesday over security challenges in the state.
One of the mobs who reacts to the highway blockage promised that the road will not be open not until either the Governor or Commissioner of Police address them and commit to putting an end to insecurity in the state.
“between N60 million to N70 million had been paid as ransom to kidnappers.” He said.
“We mobilised and supported the security in arresting about 11 suspects with pieces of incriminating evidence. We want the Commissioner of Police to come and tell us why, because serious tension is brewing here. I had to intervene yesterday to stop youths from burning down Girei Police Station,’’ Said Hamman-Girei.
Meanwhile, 9jatoday had reported that Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum blasted Nigerian Military men and Police personnel for collecting N1000 bribe from travellers on Maiduguri entrance checkpoint, located near the Borno State University.
Governor Zulum made the furious accusation after he visited the Maiduguri-Damaturu highway on Monday, where he met thousands of travellers stranded because security officials manning the highway locked it down.
