Some gunmen suspected to be members of the Islamic sect, Boko Haram has carried out another attack on the Maiduguri Highway on Thursday, killing three people and went away with other seven.
According to a report on The PUNCH, security sources have disclosed that the Boko Haram had carried out the operation between Jakana -Auno at about 11:15 a.m. on Thursday.
The source who chose to be anonymity told a correspondent with the Punch newspaper that the three persons were slaughtered and their corpses were left beside the highway around Auno village, while they forcefully went away with other seven passengers.
It could be recalled that Borno State Governor, Babagana Zuluma, have accused Nigerian Military men and Police personnel of collecting N1000 bribe from passengers on the Maiduguri entrance checkpoint, located near the Borno State University.
The security men who are supposed to be the public watchdog were reportedly demanding that travellers on the highway pay a sum of N1000 for not having National Identity Card before they will allow them to pass on the road.
Governor Zulum made the furious accusation after he visited the Maiduguri-Damaturu highway on Monday, where he met thousands of travellers stranded because security officials manning the highway locked it down.
