President Muhammadu Buhari approved immediate payments of salaries, due to some teachers who are not enrolled in the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS).

After refusing to enroll in IPPIS, some teachers’ salaries were withheld; however, President Buhari in Abuja on Tuesday asked that arrears be paid.

President Buhari gave the order for approval after a meeting with the Minister of Labor and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige, yesterday in Abuja.

This was confirmed on Wednesday by the chairman of the Presidential Task Force at COVID-19, Mr. Mustapha.

Mustapha, who is also secretary of the Federation’s government, noted that the approval is in line with measures to ensure that no one is at a disadvantage during this difficult period.

Before the President’s intervention, the Federal Government and the leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) were on everyone’s neck over the refusal of university lecturers to join the IPPIS payment platform.
