The Association of University Lecturers known as ASUU met with Buhari on Thursday
9jatoday understands that the leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has since after their meeting on Thursday with the president becomes mum on their discussion in the Villa.
The meeting was coming following President Muhammadu Buhari’s order in October last year, which directed the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning to stop the payment Association of University Lecturers known as ASUU, among others, for failing to enrol on the IPPIS platform.
According to NAN, the meeting which was led by ASUU President, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, was at the instance of the university lecturers who have been resisting enrolling on the Federal Government`s Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS).
It could also be recalled that Buhari haven ordered the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning to stop the payment of salaries of Federal Government workers, including members of ASUU, who failed to enrol on the IPPIS platform by Oct. 31, 2019, later gives directive for the deadline to be extended to Nov. 30, 2019.
NAN reports that the meeting which was presided over by President Buhari was attended by the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Hajiya Zainab Ahmed, and the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.
Others include Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, and the Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu.
