Court Has Granted Kabiru Muhammad Bail:
Reports reaching 9jatoday affirms that the man behind President Muhammadu Buhari’s fake wedding video has been granted bail.
This media house understands that Kabiru Muhammad was been arrested in early January this year on two counts of slander and falsification against President Buhari and Minister of Humanitarian and Disaster Management, Sadiya Umar Farouk.
The Kano based man who was arrested on January 3 by the Department of State Service, has been granted bail on Tuesday at a court sitting in a Chief Magistrates’ Court at Nomansland in Kano.
It could be recalled that Muhammad was arraigned on Tuesday before the Magistrate Court, for making the fake news on the President’s wedding.
However, following argument by the DSS counsel, I.B. Bulus, the 32-year-old Muhammad was granted bail in the sum of N1m with two sureties, after a plea from Muhammad’s counsel, Moses Edema, who opposed the Bulus prayer to remand the defendant in DSS custody.
Edema noted that his client should be granted bail “because his alleged offence is a bailable offence.”
Gabari, The Magistrate Court judge held that the offence was bailable and thereafter release Muhammad on bail.
He added in his ruling that one of Muhammad’s sureties must either be the chairman or secretary of the Singer Market Association, where the defendant sells rice, while the second should be a civil servant on Grade Level 14.
Gabari also orders the defendant to report at the DSS from 8 am to 2 pm from Monday to Friday while he should be there between 9 am and 2 pm during the weekend, as he adjourned the case till February 5, 2020, for further hearing.
