Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar asked the Federal Government to pay each family 10,000 naira (N10,000) as a supplement for food during the period when many are confined to their homes.
The Democratic People’s Party (PDP) presidential candidate made that call on Wednesday when he donated N50million as an aid fund to support the federal government’s battle against the country’s coronavirus pandemic.
Atiku said it is the duty of the federal and state governments to provide palliative care to the Nigerian people so that they can survive, even if they comply with these necessary measures implemented for their own safety.
According to the oldest statesman, “in approximately 30 million families or close, the government must create modalities to distribute N10,000 as a food supplement to each family, among other palliative measures, without leaving anyone behind”.
Atiku, in a press release he personally signed on Wednesday, said his contribution would help “be part of the stimulus package”.
He praised the federal and state governments for taking precautionary measures to stem the spread of the virus within the country.
