COVID-19: FG Orders Closure Of 104 Unity Schools

It has been announced in a statement on Thursday by Mr Ben Goong Director, Press and Public Relations Officer of the Federal Ministry of Education that all the 104 Unity Schools in Nigeria be closed down.

The order which was issued today in Abuja gave that the Federal Government has ordered the closure of all the 104 Unity Schools within the country starting from 26th of March in other to prevent the widespread of the deadly Coronavirus.

The order which was issued by the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, Mr Sonny Echono on behalf of the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, noted that all the Principals of the Unity Colleges should quickly end their second term examinations and shuts down its school until further notice.

The Minister, however, urges management of all the Unity Colleges to put in place basic precautions which include the provision of alcohol-based sanitizers, hand washing facilities among others.

“Students should strictly adhere to the principles and best practices of good hygiene,” He said.

Meanwhile, he has directed school Principals to immediately report any suspicious case of the COVID-19 to the nearest health authorities, noting that school managements should not take lightly any signs that are related, most especially at this delicate.
