Italy Cancels All Sports Due To Coronavirus Outbreak:
The Italian National Olympic Committee, abbreviated as (CONI) has announced the suspension of all sporting events holding in its care, which includes football following the outbreak and continue the spread of Chinese killer disease, COVID-19.
9jatoday understands that the Olympic Committee had revealed this in a statement just before a football match between Italian teams Sassuolo and Brescia began.
However, UEFA Champions League and Europa League games continue as the committee has no power to put a stop to the international games.
CONI in its announcement noted that the suspension will last through April 3, adding that the committee will seek for a government decree to impose its decision.
Meanwhile, it was reported that Italy’s sports minister had earlier ordered Serie A for games to be played without the presence of fans last weekend.
Vincenzo Spadafora said, “The world of football feels immune to rules and sacrifices,” calling the decision to play on “irresponsible.”
In another news, a news reporter with the Guardian, Chuks Nwanne who just returned from Europe, says that Nigeria is handling Coronavirus Better.
According to the journalist, when Nigeria’s Minister of Health says the country is ready to fight the coronavirus, it’s not a joke. In fact, Nigeria is ready.
“If there’s any place I’m afraid of, it’s not Nigeria, nor China, who is still fighting the virus; I fear for Europe,” he said.
