A young man has landed himself into trouble after allegedly killing his father over yam.
Reports reaching 9jatoday alleged that a young man identified as Chibueze Iduma has on Thursday been sentenced to prison, for killing his own father over cooked yam.
The report had it that Iduma was remanded in prison by a Magistrates’ Court sitting in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, on Thursday for allegedly killing his father, Mr. Emmanuel Oba Iduma.
9jatoday learnt that the accused had some altercations with his father over the cooked yam before the incident happened at Amaefia Ngbo community in Ohaukwu Local Government last December 2020.
Iduma was said to have cooked a piece of yam, went out to meet a friend in the area, only for him to return and find out that the father had eaten the yam.
“While they quarrelled over the cooked yam, the father hit the son with his walking stick; and in retaliation, the son hit him back, he then fell down and died.” Said a source.
In another news, 9jatoday reports that some unknown gunmen suspected to be bandits invaded a community in Niger State and kills four persons, kidnapped and Imam and 20 other residence.
According to a source, the suspected bandits carried out the attack in the early hour of Wednesday, killing four persons, abducted a Chief Imam and twenty others.
The source added that the gunmen in their numbers, were resisted in the first attack they carried out in Kudami, but they had fled to Beni where they successfully looted shops, houses and took away Mallam Umar Mohammed, the Chief Imam of Beni central mosque, who was on his way for a naming ceremony.
