The fear of the coronavirus that spread to Ondo State due to its proximity to Lagos and Ekiti caused the Government of Ondo State to initiate some measures to contain the spread.
Among them is the indefinite postponement of the convocation ceremony of the State University of Science and Technology of Ondo, Okitipupa, scheduled for today, according to a statement issued by the State Information and Orientation Commissioner, Donald Ojogo.
At the time of this publication, the results of the laboratory were being expected on samples collected from an alleged victim of the coronavirus currently admitted to the University Hospital of Medical Sciences at Akure University.
The patient was considered stable in isolation.
Doctors said he was unconscious and had symptoms associated with the coronavirus.
In addition, he had just returned from the United States.
The declaration called for crowds in all churches and mosques across the state to be regulated until further notice.
He advised churches and mosques with large crowds to invade more worship unions (services) in order to restrict excessive physical contacts.
The statement urged people to avoid using ordinary cups and glasses for drinking in the case of churches.
“Where there is a need for clarification on the closure of schools, all interested parties and partners, including exam bodies and private school owners, are required to contact the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.
“While the government creates structures to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic, it is pertinent that citizens take the above precautionary measures more seriously, in addition to those listed by the Governor.
