In the early hours of today, Saturday 8th of February, there was unrest in Ado Ekiti, the capital city of Ekiti State after an Explosion Rocks Ekiti Government house situated at the Okesha area of the city.
According to eyewitnesses, the explosion affected a section of the Ministry of Chieftaincy Affairs and destroyed certain parts of the Ministry of Finance.
The explosion took place in the Explosion Ordinance Disposal Unit in the old secretariat of the government House. Sources say that the explosion occurred at 7:ooam with a big bang.
In a statement by the Commissioner of police in the state-Mr. Asuquo Amba, men from the anti-bomb unit had been deployed to the explosion scene.
He further added that the explosion might have occurred as a result of the counter-terrorism resources left in the offices on the building. The explosion was also confirmed by Muyiwa Olumilua- spokesperson for the Ekiti State Government.
He is quoted as saying: “The area is secured with no further threats. Members of the public are advised to go about their normal activities.
