The Kano state government on Monday has finally dethroned Muhammad Sanusi II as the Emir of Kano.
The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Usman Alhaji, in a press release on Monday, said Ganduje approved the immediate removal / dethronement of the Emir of Kano.
The statement says: “The executive council of Kano state, under the chairmanship of His Excellency, the governor of Kano state, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, unanimously approved the immediate removal / dethroning of Emir of Kano emirate, Muhammad Sanusi “.
“The Emir of Kano completely disregards the legal instructions from the state governor’s office and other legal authorities, including its persistent refusal to participate in official government-organized meetings and programs without legal justification that represents total insubordination.
“It is registered and, in many cases, Malam Muhammad Sanusi II was found to be in violation of part 3, section 13 (a-e) of the Kano state emirate law 2019 and, if left unchecked, might destroy the good and established image of the Kano Emirate.
“This removal is made after due consultation with relevant stakeholders and in accordance with section 3 of the Kano state emirate law 2019 and other reasons mentioned above.
“Removal was achieved to safeguard the sanctity, culture, tradition, religion and prestige of the Kano Emirate built over a thousand years.”
This didnt come as a shcok tpo many as there has been news waves abouth the Emir dethronment for quite some time.
“His Excellency, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, urged the general public to remain calm, comply with the law and maintain their normal business. While a new emir from Kano Emirate will be named soon ”.
It should be remembered that the crisis between Governor Ganduje and the immediate Sanusi has been going on for a long time.
