The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has just ordered that every orientation camps across Nigeria be closed as precautionary and preventive measures against the coronavirus.
Continued orientation for members of the Batch A Stream 1 corp, which was due to end on March 30, 2020, was discontinued 12 days earlier.
9jatoday sought out some members of the corps across Nigeria who confirmed the news. They said they were expecting their post letters to their various Place of Primary Assignment (PPA) on Wednesday morning.
A statement from the NYSC administration says: “Following the coronavirus pandemic outbreak that led to the cancellation of the national sports festival, the National Youth Service Corps Scheme wants to announce the suspension of the ongoing orientation for members of the Batch “A” stream 1 corps members, 2020 ”, the statement said.
“Therefore, members of the body will be deployed to begin their primary assignments immediately, while they will be invited back to the orientation camps when the situation improves, just as it did a few years ago, when the country was confronted by the threat of the Ebola virus. “Management wants to say that no member of the corps or field official has contracted the virus.”
